One player hosts, and tells his IP address to all the client players, and they add him as a server bookmark. He starts the game, and they join. To simplify the process of resolving an IP address, I recommend using Hamachi.

If you and the host are on Hamachi, you can use the Hamachi IP, if not, use a site like this, to see what your address is. You can have multiple players connect from different networks - wireless, firewire, 10/100, internet, hamachi at the same time.

You will need an irc client. There are tons.

There is a free irc client for firefox called Chatzilla. After you've downloaded it, open it from tools -> Chatzilla

Tips:

Set your name in Multiplayer -> Options. Then exit your game, so it is permenantly saved.

Don't go into windows, or the game options, or it will crash your client, or the entire game if you're the server.

Make sure you've all got the same mod, and game versions.

Check to make sure you firewall allows Meteor 2.

If your game doesn't connect to the other player in under 10 seconds, you probably have a version or firewall error.

If you don't spawn instantly, press space hundreds of times. It often works.

If you quit, don't quit while inside a vehicle, this crashes the game for everybody.

To change maps, the host can type map into the console, but beware, spending longer than 20 seconds in this screen disconnects all clients.
